Coaching That Sounds Like a Coach

What's New

  • Your coach now acts, not advises. Instead of "you could consider increasing your calories," your coach says "I've set your calories to 2,000 kcal this week." Every nutrition decision comes with a direct statement of what's been done and why — not a suggestion to think about.
  • Check-in history now shows all your data. Stress, daily steps, water intake, training fatigue, and all the type-specific fields you fill out (hunger levels, soreness, pace, waist measurements, period tracking, and more) are now visible in your history — not just the highlights.
  • Chat suggestions now match your actual training week. If you're on Week 2, the suggestions reference Week 2 — not a stale cached number from earlier in your program.

Improvements

  • Coaching language cleaned up across the board — responses are more direct and less cluttered with filler phrases.
  • Nutrition decisions that protect against over-aggressive cuts (low energy, high hunger, inconsistent training, missed protein) now explain themselves clearly rather than giving a vague hold signal.

Smarter Nutrition Coaching at Every Check-In

What's New

  • Hunger signals now factor into calorie decisions. If you've been consistently hungry and struggling to stay on plan, your calorie target will be nudged up rather than held flat — because a plan you can't stick to isn't working, even if the numbers look fine.
  • Low energy weeks are now protected. When your energy levels are low, calorie targets stay unchanged and your coach explains why — adjusting during an energy crash tends to make things worse, not better.
  • Training consistency now affects nutrition advice. If workouts were inconsistent this week, nutrition targets hold steady until training is consistent again. Accurate nutrition decisions require consistent training to compare against.
  • Missing protein targets now gets its own coaching. If the scale isn't moving but protein is consistently missed, the advice changes: fix the protein first, not the total calories. Cutting calories further without enough protein risks muscle loss.
  • Waist measurements now protect against false "stall" signals. If your waist is shrinking but the scale is flat, your coach now recognizes this as body recomposition — not a plateau — and keeps your calories where they are.
  • Every nutrition decision now includes what to look for next week. After any adjustment (or decision to hold), your coach tells you what success looks like over the next 1-2 weeks so you know whether it's working.

Program Wizard and Check-in Insight Fixes

Bug Fixes

  • Program setup wizard now has a cancel button — you can close the wizard at any point without generating a program. Reopening it always starts from the beginning.
  • Training days pre-fill from your profile — when the wizard opens, the days you train are automatically selected from your onboarding answers. You'll see a "Pre-filled from your profile" note confirming this.
  • No more simultaneous intro + step content — the intro screen and the form steps no longer show at the same time. Steps only appear after you click "Let's Go" on the intro.
  • Removed skip buttons — all steps in the wizard collect information that actually affects your program. Skip options have been removed.
  • Session duration minimum lowered to 15 minutes — shorter sessions are now valid for users just getting started.
  • Generation status messaging — while your program is being built, the page now shows phase-appropriate messages so you know what to expect at each stage.
  • Cancel button no longer flashes back — clicking "Cancel" on a stuck generation now hides the button immediately instead of briefly showing it again.
  • Check-in insights no longer invent baselines — when Coachbase doesn't have enough history to compare against, the AI now acknowledges this instead of making up a "usual" value for energy, mood, or performance.
  • Check-in insights show the correct week context — being on week 5 with no recent check-ins no longer triggers a "first week" message.
  • Program duration capped at 16 weeks — longer options have been removed from both the wizard and onboarding.

Comeback Week: Easing Back In After a Break

What's New

  • Comeback week added automatically — when you check in after being away for 2 or more weeks, a reduced-volume week is inserted into your program before your next planned training week. Your program gets one week longer so you don't miss anything.
  • Volume adjusts to how long you were away — the longer the break, the lighter the comeback week. Shorter breaks get a moderate reduction; longer absences get a gentler restart.
  • Lower intensity guidance — the comeback week keeps RPE targets lower and avoids pushing near your limits. The focus is re-establishing movement patterns, not testing performance.
  • Labeled in your program — comeback weeks show a badge in your training timeline so you always know what you're looking at and why.
  • Push notification on return — you'll get a notification when the comeback week is added, so you're never surprised by the change.

Programs Now Use the Same Exercises Every Week

What's New

  • Consistent exercises across all weeks — your program now selects exercises once and keeps them for the full block. Week 3 has the same lifts as Week 1. Only the load, volume, and RPE progress. This is how effective periodization works.
  • Faster week unlocks — because exercises are chosen upfront, unlocking a new week no longer requires a second AI call. Unlock time drops from ~25 seconds to ~10 seconds.
  • Exercise swaps stick — if you swap an exercise, that change will carry forward to every subsequent week automatically.
  • Wizard pre-fills from your profile — when generating a new program, the setup wizard now pre-fills your goal, duration, and preferences from your onboarding so you spend less time clicking through defaults.

Training Week Unlock Reliability Fix

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where submitting a check-in could fail to unlock your next training week, with no visible error shown
  • Your next week now unlocks reliably even if the workout content takes extra time to prepare — you'll no longer be left on a locked week after checking in
  • Programs that were automatically paused now resume automatically when you submit a check-in, since checking in shows you're still active

Smarter Weekly Insights + Workout Card Polish

Improvements

  • Context-aware weekly insights — your coach now says "your stress (4/5) is above your usual 2.3/5" instead of just reporting the number. Energy, sleep, mood, stress, and training fatigue are all compared against your personal history when data is available
  • Water intake tracked in insights — if you log water intake during check-in, your coach now factors it into the weekly summary
  • Weight trend with goal context — the weight trend line now shows how far you are from your target (e.g. "+0.8 kg over 3 weeks (1.2 kg below target of 72 kg)")
  • Step count context — your coach now uses your activity level to give step count context instead of comparing to a generic 10,000-step target

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where your first check-in after starting a new program would incorrectly show a large training volume drop (e.g. "84% reduction") compared to workouts done before the program began
  • Fixed the exercise demo play button appearing mid-card instead of flush at the right edge on all screen sizes

Exercise Video Demos + Login Fix

What's New

  • Exercise demo videos — tap the play button on any exercise in your workout to watch a technique video from trusted coaches
  • Instant video loading — videos are pre-loaded when your next training week unlocks, so there's no wait when you tap play
  • Rate videos — thumbs up or thumbs down on any demo; poor-quality videos are automatically replaced with better alternatives
  • More exercise coverage — added running form, Zone 2 training, and mobility/rehab video guides
  • Precise video matching — searches now return the exact exercise variation you're doing (trap bar deadlift, dumbbell incline press, etc.) instead of generic how-tos

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where signing in with Google would redirect back to the homepage instead of taking you directly to your dashboard

Customise Your Macro Split

What's New

  • Custom macro split — Tap "Edit Macros" on your Nutrition Plan to redistribute your daily calories between protein, fat, and carbs using live sliders
  • Calories stay locked — Your total calorie budget is set by your coach and cannot be changed; only the split between macros adjusts
  • Carbs auto-calculated — Carbs fill whatever calories remain after protein and fat, so the numbers always add up
  • Minimum targets enforced — Protein and fat floors are shown clearly and cannot be set below safe minimums
  • Reset any time — "Reset to coach's recommendation" always reverts to the original targets, even after multiple saves
  • Coaches stay in sync — All coaching conversations immediately reflect your custom targets; your coach will reference your actual protein, carb, and fat goals when giving advice

New Workout Experience: Dynamic Island Rest Timer & Copy Previous Set

New Features

  • Floating Rest Timer ("Dynamic Island") — track your rest intervals with a new floating timer that stays at the top of your screen, letting you view other parts of your workout while you wait for your next set
  • Copy Previous Set Button — log your workouts faster by tapping a single button to copy your weight, reps, and RPE directly from your previous set in the same workout
  • Smart RPE Defaults — the logging interface now automatically defaults to your coach's Target RPE for the current set, so you can confirm same-intensity sets with a single tap
  • Target RPE Display — see your prescribed intensity (Target RPE) front-and-center while you are logging Each set, ensuring you stay on track with your coach's planning
  • Custom Weight Input — freedom to enter any weight exactly as you lifted it, with support for free-text input and an improved mobile-friendly number selector

Improvements

  • Workout Completion Flow — you'll now be automatically redirected to your full workout summary and results page immediately after completing your training session
  • Rest Timer Overtime Tracking — if you go over your rest interval, the timer now continues tracking your overtime instead of stopping, giving you a full picture of your recovery
  • Synthetic Beep Alerts — the rest timer now uses a synthesized alert sound to notify you when rest is complete, which works reliably across all devices

Bug Fixes

  • Full Coach Narrations — fixed a character limit that was cutting off your coach's detailed weekly descriptions and focus narrations mid-sentence in your timeline
  • Timeline Focus Text — ensuring the primary focus of every training week is displayed in its entirety across your dashboard and program pages

v1.3.1improvements

Improved: Program Setup Wizard Remembers Your Profile

Improvements

  • Smarter defaults — when you open the program builder, your goal, program length, calorie strategy, session duration, and preferred training days are already filled in from your profile
  • Still fully adjustable — every pre-filled value is just a starting point; change anything before generating your program
  • Saved choices respected — if you started filling out the wizard before, your previous answers are preserved and take priority over profile defaults

v1.2.6improvements

Smarter, More Consistent Coaching

What's New

  • Coach insights remember your chat history — if you've mentioned injuries, preferences, or goals in chat, your check-in insights now respect them and won't contradict prior advice
  • Your coach remembers what it told you — when you ask a question, your coach can now reference what it said in your last check-in summary
  • Longer, more complete check-in insights — removed a cap that was cutting responses short mid-sentence
  • General fitness programs now work correctly — goals like "feel better & have more energy", "manage a health condition", and "build a consistent habit" now generate the right type of program

Smarter Programme Planning

What's New

  • Set your preferences upfront — when starting a programme, you can now set your goal, duration, calorie pace, and session length before anything is generated
  • Nutrition changes take effect immediately — switching eating phases mid-programme now updates your upcoming weeks right away, without waiting for the next cycle
  • Your check-ins shape the weeks ahead — fatigue, sleep, and pain ratings now influence how the following weeks are adjusted, not just the next one
  • Training history you upload now informs your whole programme — movement patterns and training level from uploaded photos or gym logs reach every part of your plan
  • Your programme now explains itself — each programme includes a written breakdown of why it's structured the way it is: your cardio approach, exercise choices, and weekly split
  • Recommended weights are based on what you've been lifting — starting loads are now calculated from your recent sessions, not generic defaults
  • General fitness programmes are now fully supported — all programme features work correctly for general health and fitness goals
  • More exercise variety across weeks — consecutive weeks now avoid repeating the same exercises too often
  • Better coach write-ups — programme overviews, phase breakdowns, and weekly tips are more detailed and written in a warmer coaching voice
  • Smarter deload placement — multi-week plans now place rest weeks more intelligently based on your goal and training phase

Bug Fixes

  • Generation screen no longer gets stuck — if the connection drops after your programme was successfully built, the app now detects this and takes you straight to your programme instead of showing an error
  • Workout weeks now appear reliably — a formatting issue occasionally caused programmes to generate without any workout weeks; this is fixed, and any affected programmes recover automatically on your next visit
  • Chat responses no longer show a double error — if a long response was cut off mid-stream, a second "Sorry, I encountered an error" message used to appear below it; this no longer happens
  • Tables in chat now show scroll hints — wide tables display a fade indicator at the edge so you know there's more content to scroll to

Mar
v1.2.7improvements

Improved: Smarter Training Split Recommendations

Improvements

  • Safer split options — removed training splits that violated basic recovery principles (such as full-body training every single day), replacing them with evidence-based alternatives
  • Smarter Coach decides — when you let the coach choose your split, it now draws on detailed guidelines for your experience level, goal, and training frequency rather than making a generic choice
  • Experience-aware defaults — the program now better matches split complexity to your training background, with simpler patterns for newer trainees and higher-frequency options for advanced athletes
20
Mar
v1.2.4improvements

Improved: Workout Generation Reliability

Improvements

  • More reliable workout generation — workouts for newly unlocked weeks now complete successfully even when they take longer to prepare, preventing a rare case where the next week would appear empty after a check-in.

v1.2.3New FeatureImprovement

More Control Over Your Training Programme

Setting up a training programme now gives you a lot more say over how your week is structured.

What's new:

  • Choose your workout days — pick exactly which days of the week you train, so the programme fits your actual schedule
  • Set your training split — choose from Push/Pull/Legs, Upper/Lower, Full Body, or a custom split
  • Intermittent fasting — if you fast, you can now tell Coachbase your eating window so nutrition timing is factored into your coaching

Your programme adapts around your life, not the other way around.

  • Editable volume — training volume targets in your programme are now editable directly in the programme view, so you can make quick adjustments without regenerating

  • Timed exercises — log exercises by duration, not just reps (e.g. planks, cardio intervals)
  • Bodyweight movements — track bodyweight exercises properly with a 0 kg option and clear labelling
  • Rest between exercises — a rest timer now runs between exercises, not just between sets
  • Session saving — your progress is saved mid-workout so you can close the app and pick up exactly where you left off

Programme & Coaching Updates

A batch of improvements across programmes and coaching:

  • Realistic progress expectations — your coach now gives evidence-based timelines so you know what progress actually looks like for your specific goal and body

New users now get a guided, step-by-step introduction to Coachbase — starting with a conversation before moving into programme setup. This makes it easier to understand what Coachbase can do for you before committing to a full programme.

Also fixed: chat responses now complete correctly even when you switch conversations mid-stream, and streaming no longer shows responses in the wrong chat window.

Smarter Check-ins & Coaching Memory

Two updates that make your coaching sharper over time:

  • Instant check-in insights — after submitting a check-in, Coachbase now automatically derives your workout performance metrics and surfaces insights right away, no waiting
  • Coaching memory — Coachbase now remembers more about your training history, preferences, and context across conversations, so responses get more personalised the longer you use it

v1.0.2New Feature

Nutrition Phase Tracking

Nutrition tracking now works in phases — cut, bulk, or maintenance — aligned to your active training programme. You can also choose your calorie pace (conservative, moderate, or aggressive) to match how quickly you want to reach your goal.

The system automatically tracks which phase you're in and adjusts your daily targets accordingly, so your nutrition always reflects where you are in your training cycle.

v1.0.1ImprovementBug Fix

Coach Improvements & Settings Fix

Your AI coach now has a clearer, more consistent identity. It stays focused on what's actually useful for you and avoids speculating about things it doesn't know. A display issue in the Settings page that caused tabs to get cut off on smaller screens has also been fixed.

v1.0.0New Feature

Smarter, More Personalised Training Programmes

Your training programmes are now built with significantly more intelligence and depth.

What's changed:

  • Programmes are structured around your specific goal, not a generic template
  • Exercise selection takes into account your health conditions, injury history, and equipment
  • Each week is reviewed for balance — so you're not overloading one muscle group or neglecting another
  • A coach-style overview is included with every programme, explaining the approach and what to expect week by week

The result: programmes that feel like they were designed specifically for you, because they are.
